Something I’ve just seen over at Zune Thoughts is the fact that you can only listen to 30 seconds of a track, even if it was sent to you from a friends Zune and your playing it on the PC. Furthermore you are unable to play music from a Zune device through your PC / Laptop without reverse syncing first (unless your a pass holder – in which case it streams it if available). This makes very little sense and can be quite rightly questioned. Here is the full from Zune Thoughts, Jason Dunn:
My friend Matt sent me four songs by BLK JKS to check out, Zune to Zune. Rather than plugging in headphones, I docked my Zune so I could listen to it my desktop computer speakers. Much to my surprise, I saw that I was only able to listen to 30 second samples – presumably coming from the Zune Marketplace rather than my Zune itself.

Why this is the case is beyond me. If you fancy like having a natter with the Zune Thoughts guys about the matter check the Music Sharing: Why Only 30 Seconds? topic over at their forum or leave your comments below.
