Well with a lack of news for nearly a week and then a busy weekend I became distracted from my usual of checking for Zune HD news every few hours. Well I have certainly missed a lot and so I will outline each piece of news seperately. The news includes photos confirming Zune HD will infact have Apps, more Zune HD videos and hands-ons, tonnes of news while the Zune HD was being showed off at Best Buys around the USA and photos of the Zune HD final packaging.
Zune HD at Best Buy – Impressions
Adam Krebs of ZuneThoughts was lucky enough to get down to his local Best Buy to take a look at the upcoming Zune HD. He was pretty impressed with the device and is looking forward to purchasing one when it’s released. He noted many points down which can be seen in full at Zune Thoughts though I’ve outlined a few below:
- Pressing and holding the screen while in a song to bring up the option to “pin” a track, which shows up along with Now Playing and History to the left of the main menu.
- Now Playing screen folows the Zune Software more closely, with artist pictures and track info scrolling by slowly. Looks amazing on HDTV
- There are no sliders in the Now Playing screen. To seek within a track or change the volume, you must hold one of the buttons on the screen.

Zune HD Hands-on & Packaging Photos
Both Pocket Lint and ZuneSpring’s John Aarington managed to get shots of the Zune HD, its packaging and some promotional material at the weekend and I’ve added the image gallery to the bottom of this article, starting with John’s photos of Zune HD’s packaging and promo materials from ZuneSpring.com and then showing off Pocket Lint’s Zune HD shots.
John also noted that:
Zune HD will have the same hard glass screen as the Zune 120. It will come with a few games, as well as a large selection of games and apps available on marketplace at launch with many more to follow. I also managed to get a glimpse into the Zune HD’s Packaging and can confirm it does come with the same headphones the Zune 120.
We can also see from both sets of photos that Zune HD will be available in a package which bundles the Dock, Remote and Cables for HD Video output which is awesome!
