Sometime this spring the Zune HD will recieve a firmware update providing support for Xvid and other currently unsupported MPEG-4 video formats. The firmware update should also include Smart DJ support from on the Zune device.

Today is a big day for Microsoft, the technology world and Zuners like yourself – it’s the release day for Zune HD & Zune Software 4.0 which are now both available. This is seen as Microsoft’s big move, alongside Windows Seven which will probably make or break the Zune brand.

Nothing much of interest in this weeks Zune Newsletter but I thought i’d post it up anyway since some of you don’t receive it. Theres not been much more info on the Zune HD lately so I guess we’ll have to wait until tuesday!

The official Zune Newsletter has announced that we will be seeing a new Zune Software on September 15th, as well as releasing information on how to win a Zune HD and a link to the audiobook ‘High Fidelity’ for free, courtesy of audible.

According to WinSuperSite the current Zune lineup (thats those without the Zune HD name) will be discontinued in favour of the upcoming (September 15th) Zune HD device. This is suprising since the current Zunes are a popular IPod alternatives – maybe the Zune Team has a suprise ahead?

CNET’s hands on with Zune HD has stirred eve more interest with the device looking sexier in every released shot. As most of you will already know the Zune HD will ship this fall (expected September) and will come in two variations: 16gb Black with silver trim and 32gb Silver (chrome) with black trim.
